Indonesia has numerous diversities, from ethnics, religions, culture, traditional foods, beautiful sceneries, and even languages. One of those diversities derives from West Papua, which owns numerous incomparable things, like its culture.

Concerning the fact that the province has many unequaled things, the contribution of their people in government is also important. Besides, their people have some privileges in some parts of the policy.

West Papuan’s Privilege in Indonesian Government

The government generates the privilege to the people in the province because of numerous reasons. Importantly, the province still has a frequent lack of communication, transportation, and insufficient education. 

To alleviate numerous problems, the Indonesian government has prepared several privileges for their people in Papua. Those privileges are in the list below.

They have special formation on CPNS

The Indonesian government decided to establish a special formation on CPNS (Calon Pegawa Negeri Sipil – Probationary Civil Servant) for people in West Papua. This decision is based on the fact aimed at implementing the policy to organize staffing in Papua. Besides, free competition has resulted in the majority of those entering Papua being migrants.

Another reason for holding a special formation in CPNS for Papuans is to provide equality and stability to quality human resources. On the other hand, the government attempts to implement the CAT system prior to the CPNS selection in Papua.

West Papua has special autonomy status

The grant of Special Autonomy to West Papua Province is intended to deliver justice, enforce the rule of law, respect for human rights, expedite economic development, improve the welfare and progress of the Papuan people, and do so in an equitable and balanced manner with the progress of other provinces.

Equitable development in this province is very important

Concerning the people in the province with many potentials, the government pays attention to the development in that area. Starting from education to another field, the government believes that this area will receive a good life in the future.

The Importance of People of West Papua in Government

People in the area called Bumi Cendrawasih also have numerous roles, especially for the Indonesian government. The important things come from many aspects, starting from culinary, panorama, and their cultures.

People pay attention to the cultures

Things that make people in the area important are because they really advertise their cultures. They uphold the customs as a tribute to their forefathers. 

This is also why it is important in government, among other things. Indeed, the name Indonesia has been reintroduced to the world as a result of Noken, a crochet bag labeled as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO.

People can produce the unique culinary

Another important thing from this province is that the people are able to produce unique foods, including the traditional foods as their staple foods. The diversity that the community owns and creates is undoubtedly a source of pride, one of which is for the provincial government.

This must be maintained and preserved so that Papua’s culinary does not become extinct and can be developed over time. Papeda, Lontar Cake, Aunu Senebre, and Martabak Sago are some of the Papuan foods.

People are able to handle the tourist attraction

On the other hand, the government appreciates West Papuan because they can handle and manage the tourist attraction. Others acknowledge that Papua Island has numerous beautiful panoramas that make tourists visit it many times.

It must be acknowledged that the community is heavily involved in the tourism program. This is why the provincial government works with the community.

People in West Papua also contribute to the development of Papua and the Indonesian government. Furthermore, to create a good government and an improved province, there should be a respectable collaboration between the government and local people.
